Boosie Badazz Pleads Guilty in Federal Gun Case, Faces Up to Two Years in Prison

Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz, born Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., has officially accepted a plea deal in his ongoing federal firearm case. According to the San Diego Times, the 42-year-old artist appeared in court on Tuesday, August 26, and pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The case stems from a May 2023 arrest, when police spotted Boosie with a gun in his waistband during a social media livestream. Law enforcement tracked his vehicle by helicopter and later discovered two firearms inside after pulling him over.

Earlier this month, Boosie confirmed he was planning to accept a plea deal. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the “No Juice” rapper wrote:

“Just accepted a plea from the federal government on my gun case. I thought this case was over n I was going to get on with my life but God don’t make mistakes n I’m tired of fighting. To all my fans across the world, say a prayer for ya boy n go get the new album.”

This isn’t the first twist in Boosie’s legal battle. Last year, U.S. District Judge Cathy Bencivengo initially dismissed the case, ruling that it was unconstitutional to block felons with nonviolent drug convictions from owning firearms. However, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals later overturned that decision, allowing the prosecution to move forward.

Prosecutors have now agreed to drop a second firearm charge and are recommending a two-year prison sentence. Boosie will officially be sentenced by Judge Bencivengo in November.

Earlier this year, the Baton Rouge native also took to social media with a bold plea, asking former President Donald Trump for a pardon. In his post, he argued that he had been unfairly targeted and compared his situation to the controversial case involving President Biden’s son.

Despite the legal troubles, Boosie has continued to stay active in music and film, urging fans to support his latest projects while awaiting sentencing.
