Breaking news Charlie Kirk’s body to be flown home aboard Air Force Two in rare tribute
Charlie Kirk’s Funeral Honors: Casket Flown to Phoenix on Air Force Two After Assassination in Utah
Conservative leader Charlie Kirk’s casket will be transported to Phoenix, Arizona aboard Air Force Two, a rare and extraordinary honor, according to sources cited by the Daily Mail.
Vice President JD Vance traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday to pay respects to Kirk’s grieving family and close friends. The Vice President’s original plan to attend the September 11 memorial at Ground Zero in New York City was changed following Kirk’s tragic death. Instead, Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance flew to Utah in the wake of the assassination.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative voice, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University during the opening stop of his America Comeback Tour on Wednesday. Witnesses report that Kirk was answering a question about mass shootings when he was struck in the neck by a single bullet fired from roughly 200 yards away. The father-of-two collapsed instantly, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, and was pronounced dead two and a half hours later.
Vice President Vance later shared a heartfelt tribute on X, recalling his first meeting with Kirk and their years-long friendship: “You ran a good race, my friend. We’ve got it from here.”
Kirk gained national recognition for his viral debates with college students across the country, becoming a controversial yet influential figure in conservative politics. His death has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, with supporters mourning the loss of a man they describe as a fearless advocate for free speech and conservative values.
